Then she left school to seek out an agent. She then began doing auditions and appearing on TV as well as film. Butler played a part in the TV show CSI: Miami. Butler won the leading role in the 2010 thriller about rape and revenge I Spit on Your Grave. This remake is a remake from 1978 of the cult film of the same title. The film initially was she was a bit hesitant because of the violence, nakedness and feminist undertones. But the compelling plot and the feminist aspect led her to agree to the lead role. Directed by Steven R. Monroe the film premiered on October 8th of 2010. In November 2011, Butler and Estella Warren began filming the thriller based on psychological research The Stranger Within in Mallorca in Spain. The film was also scheduled to shoot at Copenhagen Denmark and New York City.She joined the cast of the independent feature Treachery featuring Michael Biehn which began filming in Los Angeles in June 2012.
